Offer Description

3 Trainees in Zoology

The Finnish Museum of Natural History invites applications for a 2–3 month fixed term positions of University trainees in zoology, starting 1.6.2024 or as agreed.

About the positions

Trainees will participate in digitisation of zoological collections; they can assist in organisation and curation of collections and they can assist in data curation of bird monitoring. Trainees can also work in research teams of the Zoology unit.

Qualifications

Trainee positions are for biology students in Finnish universities. Both Bachelor and MSc level students are eligible. We encourage applications from MSc students, because the training may lead to a Master’s thesis in one of the research teams of the Zoology unit.

Trainees need to be familiar with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word), and skills and knowledge on animals (particularly species-level knowledge), and previous experience on handling zoological samples are considered beneficial. Training can be organised in English, but a basic command of Finnish language is considered an asset.

What do we offer?

A possibility to become familiar with different tasks in the Finnish Museum of Natural History. Salary is 1400 euros per month. Own university’s financial support for training may be used to extend the fixed-term contract.
