Purpose: The Enterprise System Architect is responsible for planning, architecting, and evolving the AUC digital landscape in terms of IT systems, ERPs and their relationships to support digital transformation as a driver of the AUC strategy.

The job holder reviews goals, processes, and resources and engages in technology tracking to recommend the underlying IT systems architecture that delivers the capabilities that address current and future business needs in conjunction and alignment with Digital Transformation Leadership strategy and relevant teams as well as business stakeholders.

Principal Accountabilities:

Enterprise Systems Architect Scope:

The Architect for cross-program, and cross-project Architecture strategies, opportunities, and problem resolution

The Architect for complex development projects

The consultant on digital trends and directions

The Project “Auditor” to ensure conformance and compliance of projects and programs with Architect guidelines.

Enterprise Systems Architect Key Responsibilities:

  • Definition, implementation, and execution of the processes for the definition, maintenance, and conformance management of the Enterprise Architecture.
  • Developing and maintaining the Enterprise Architecture in conjunction with Digital Transformation leadership.
  • Developing and maintaining a repository of future digital architecture plans.
  • Architectural leadership in the resolutions of inter-program and inter-project issues.
  • Ongoing publicity and communication of the Enterprise Architecture both within the information community, and the business units.
  • Ongoing research and assessment of new trends and technologies for potential use.
  • Coordinating all Enterprise Architecture activities locally and globally.
  • Assisting in aligning business initiatives with the Enterprise Architecture
  • Auditing compliance within the Enterprise Architecture standards
  • Serving as advisor to Digital Transformation leadership on business and information integration strategies

Strategy Development Responsibilities

  • Recommend a Digital vision and multi-year plan to Digital Transformation leadership
  • Create business architecture models that reflect AUC strategies and goals
  • Influencing AUC strategy towards deploying digitization as a business differentiator
  • Translating or mapping business strategy into information strategy in conjunction with the Business Intelligence and Data Governance teams
  • Understanding technology product and vendor strategies, products, and customer preferences
  • Understanding, modeling, and representing the organizations business requirements in a human consumable manner, as it relates to strategy

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Communicating with business and technology leaders, both within and outside AUC
  • Understanding the business needs for solutions
  • Being viewed as the trusted advisor to AUC Digital Transformation leadership
  • Building an effective architecture organization
  • Understanding developers needs in parallel with business needs
  • Locate ways to reduce costs in IT in future plans

Modeling Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating abilities to derive, define, and explicitly represent various artifacts within The Enterprise Framework.
  • Understanding the meanings and relationships between various models.
  • Developing parallel data and analytics models and roadmaps with BI team
  • Provide business architecture and systems processing guidance

Technology Responsibilities

  • Understanding of appropriate technologies
  • Developing methods and techniques for modeling technologies

Requirements:

Minimum education requirement:

Education:

  • 12+ years’ experience out of which 2 years of defining and implementing strategies with reporting line to CIO/CTO or equivalent
  • Computer Engineering bachelor
  • MBA or Masters in Computer Technology preferred

Experience:

  • Experience with enterprise architecture best practices
  • Experience with modeling and graphical representations and abstraction.
  • Experience with leading ERP systems, integration methodologies and information/analytics practices
  • Knowledge of IT network design and governance
  • Knowledge of higher education industry preferred

  • Marketing (selling the designed architecture to internal / external stakeholders)
