Driver II - Carts

Purpose: Performs work in the operation of carts vehicle to assure safe transportation of clients and materials to and from various destinations. Performs routine vehicle maintenance, and reports non-routine problems as detected. Works flexible hours as required.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • The driver must be able to drive electric carts (club cars) and the ambulance car
  • Drive the vehicle over a scheduled route to transport riders to and from desired locations on campus
  • Additional responsibilities include the ability to drive passenger cars, micro buses and trucks
  • Maintain a variety of records, such as time at each stop, purpose of trip, number of passengers per day, mileage, and vehicle maintenance
  • Independent judgement must be exercised in handling unusual situations arising with passengers as well as good knowledge of car mechanics to define nature of unexpected car breakdown
  • Driver is responsible for the daily maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle
  • Operates vehicles to transport persons to and from specified destinations, as directed
  • Performs routine vehicle maintenance, such as checking tires; reports any non-routine problems or malfunctioning equipment
  • Follows specified instructions, procedures, and standards for the efficient and safe operation of the vehicle, and for the care and safety of passengers
  • Conforms to all local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of a vehicle
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Upper intermediate diploma is required

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of driving experience

Skills

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license grade three
  • Independent judgment must be exercised in handling unusual situations arising with passengers as well as good knowledge of car mechanics to define nature of unexpected car breakdown
  • Knowledge of driving different types of vehicles such as car, bus, van
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the rules and regulations involved in the safe and efficient operation of automotive equipment
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrate patience while dealing with customers
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance
