Job Description:

The Department of Construction Engineering in the School of Sciences and Engineering at the American University in Cairo is seeking a highly qualified faculty member for a fixed-term appointment beginning Fall 2024 in the Construction Engineering Program. Applicants who have a research focus in one or more areas of environmental engineering, hydraulics and water resources are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake academic duties that include teaching and research in the field of environmental engineering/water resources and serving on different departmental, school and university committees. He/she is expected to teach undergraduate-and graduate-level courses in the areas of hydraulics, environmental engineering and water resources engineering. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research and attract research grants in the field of specialty and supervise graduate research in environmental engineering, water quality studies, assessment and remediation of hazardous sites, solid waste engineering and climate change.


Requirements:

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Environmental Engineering or Water Resources Engineering. Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of teaching and research in the areas of water resources and environmental engineering. A solid record of professional practical experience and established record in attracting funded research and scholarship is highly desirable. We seek candidates who are enthusiastic about their profession and undergraduate and graduate education and are highly motivated researchers capable of leading a project and training students with passion and enthusiasm. Candidates with a professional Engineer (PE) status in North America or equivalent are preferred.
