The Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy, Copenhagen Business School, invites applications for two full-time faculty positions in CBS Law as full Professor in:

  • Contract Law/Contract Management
  • Marketing Law and Digital Transformations

In announcing the professorships, the department wishes to strengthen the following areas: 1) Research in contract law and marketing law; 2) Collaboration with business and society; 3) Teaching in the areas of contracts, the law of obligations, consumer law and marketing law at bachelor, master, and PhD programs.

CBS LAW is a constituent research unit of the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy (MPP). As such, a key part of our activities also concentrates on multidisciplinary research and creating interfaces between law, politics, management and philosophy. MPP is a unique Business Humanities department central to the CBS Strategy of transforming society with business. It is a multi-disciplinary research department with the ambition to undertake and communicate to students and peers our innovative, creative and critical research. A creative, multi-disciplinary dialogue that challenges and combines academic disciplines and perspectives ties research at the Department together. This implies that core areas like management, strategy, leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, aesthetics, politics, philosophy, sociology and history, become productive and relevant in new ways. The Department is committed to research-based education and to bring this new knowledge into play in society in a constructive, engaged, and valuable manner. A key focus of MPP is to publish its research with highly ranked academic journals and publishers across a broad spectrum of areas, reflecting the Department’s multidisciplinary set-up.

CBS LAW is internationally recognized for the excellence in law scholarship and for an interdisciplinary, proactive and dynamic research perspective within law in Northern Europe. CBS LAW concentrates on providing unique research relevant for the Danish business community, public sector, and society in general and engages in research firmly grounded in business and societal problems. Our perspective is both Nordic, EU and global and is based not only on traditional law disciplines but also on a unique interface between law, management, entrepreneurship, economics and policymaking.

CBS LAW is a source of expertise in several EU and Nordic-specific legal areas and provides, in that sense, the research that business communities need and demand. At the same time, we are strongly represented in European and global scholarship. Our core competences are contract law, company law, IT regulation, public procurement, competition law, tax law and law & economics.

CBS LAW publishes widely both in the international and national core journals and monographs. While we aim to be represented in major Nordic and European law publications.

CBS law is involved in teaching BSc in Business Administration and Commercial Law (HA-jur), MSc in Business Administration and Commercial Law (cand.merc.jur), MSc in Business and Economics and Auditing (cand. merc. aud), Master in tax and more than 10 other study programmes at CBS. A majority of the courses are taught in Danish.

CBS LAW runs a PhD program within the CBS Graduate School of Business and Management.

Teaching responsibilities of the Department comprise undergraduate and graduate teaching as well as teaching in post-experience and doctoral education.

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and associated examination in existing CBS programs in Danish and English
  • Individual and group-based research meeting high international standards
  • Promoting CBS’s academic reputation
  • Initiating, fund raising and coordinating research projects
  • Promoting the teaching and research capabilities of Copenhagen Business School and other relevant assignments at Copenhagen Business School
  • Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the Department and to CBS-wide tasks
  • Communicating findings to the public in general and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular, including participating in the public debate.
  • Research meeting high international standards, including responsibility for the academic development of the relevant discipline
  • Responsibility for publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching
  • Active participation in the regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences.
  • The professor is expected to contribute to the development and application of the research of the department’s research areas and to maintain and strengthen CBS’s international research position.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant academic field
  • Teaching and research experience within the advertised fields at a high international level
  • Documented teaching qualifications
  • Documented research production at an international level, including publications in internationally recognized journals within relevant fields.
  • Documented ability to teach in Danish
  • Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken)
