Are you ready to develop, refine and lead cutting edge technological and methodological solutions for industrial decarbonization? Are you seeking to establish your career as scientists and looking for the best possible foundations to fulfil your ambitions?
The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites exceptional candidates to apply for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in Data-driven thermodynamics for Industrial Decarbonization.
This is a unique opportunity to build a research career that encompasses advancement and application of engineering thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid flow, from micro to macro-scale, with focus on next generation of thermal technologies. Applications areas might include, but not limited to, clean generation & conversion of high temperature heat, advanced energy storage, thermal management, and innovative operation and control strategies.
We seek candidates with a strong background in the field of applied thermodynamics (fluids, components, process scales) aided by computational methods as the necessary foundation to venturing and expanding the field through modern approaches in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
The appointment is hosted by the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (DTU Construct ) and it is anchored in the Thermal Energy Section (TES), a leading environment conducting fundamental and applied research in thermal sciences, thermal processes and thermal technologies.
Responsibilities and qualifications
You will assume a role focused on strengthening the Section’s mission of advancing thermal sciences to drive technological developments towards a carbon neutral society.
A central component of the position will be cutting-edge research in conception, development and implementation of advanced thermodynamic methods that leverage data-driven techniques (PINNs, Scientific ML, data-driven optimization, etc) to surpass traditional techniques for discovery, design and optimization of thermal technologies, seeking necessary experimental validation approaches that ensure translation of the research into innovation.
Your primary key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and conduct international-relevant research within applied thermodynamics, data-driven methods and high-performance thermal technologies
- Contribute to external funding activities, seeking opportunities to lead and participate in collaborative, funded research projects with academia and/or industry at national and international level
- Engage with industry and/or the public sector, expanding the portfolio of national and international collaborations of the Thermal Energy Section
- Contribute to the advancement of the Section research infrastructure for methods validation and proof-of-concept
- Participate in teaching and supervision across relevant courses, aiming at expanding the section teaching portfolio in the field of modern thermodynamic approaches
