Research Assistant who wants to develop evaluation competences in a project aiming to improve adolescents’ physical activity
Do you have experience working with adolescents and want to develop your metholodical competences evaluating a health promotion project for adolescents? The Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics (IOB), University of Southern Denmark, invites applicantions for a 1-year employment as research assistant as soon as possible in an EU-Horizon project (ID 101095423) with expected continuation in a 3-year PhD fellowship in the same project.
The project
The project is called YoPAAPE and aims to co-create tailored social and physical environments to promote physical activity in adolescents living in deprived neighbourhoods in four countries; The Netherlands, Nigeria, South Africa, and Denmark. The evaluation will follow the same framework in the four diffent countries including both quantitative and qualitative methods. The Danish part of the project will take place in a neighbourhood in Aalborg.
We are looking for
A research assistent who wants to continue in a PhD fellowship after one year. Your primary work will be collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate the project. Gaining experience with the facilitation and co-creation with the adolescents will also be possible. Knowledge of diffent data collection methods and experiences working with youth are clear advantages. It will also be an advantage if you can work systematically, when you produce knowledge, and are confident expressing youself in academic English, written and spoken. Finally, as data-collection involves a lot of interaction with Danish adolescents, being able to communicate in Danish would be very practical.
Qualifications
- Relevant master’s degree in health - or social science
- Knowledge about and/or experience with project evaluation (experience with both quantitative and qualitative methods are preferred)
- Experience working with adolescents – e.g. from volunteer work
- Extroverted and cooperation oriented
- Work systematically when producing knowledge
- Good formulation skills in oral and written English
Who are we and what do we offer?
The YoPAAPE project in Denmark consists of a team of researchers led by a senior researcher who coordinates the Danish part of the project with the projects in the other countries. The facilitation of the project will occur in close cooperation with external partners, among other partners from Aalborg Municipality.
You will be employed at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics (IOB) at the University of Southern Denmark, Campus Odense, and will be part of the Active Living research unit. Data collection will take place in Aalborg, and project meetings in The Netherlands, South Africa and Nigeria will most likely happen.

Salary
Salaries for research assistants employed at the Faculty of Health Sciences are in accordance with the approved agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the AC collective agreement.
