Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, Denmark.



Job description:

You will be part of a small and dynamic team focused on understanding how neurons and glia cells communicate to direct the formation of myelin sheath in the central nervous system and how disturbance in this communication can lead to neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders.

The project that you will be working on seeks to develop new tools to visualize central steps during the formation of myelin sheaths. The work will involve different methodology including CRISPR-Cas genome editing, and bioimaging of primary cells and zebrafish models. You will be working in a supporting environment with the possibility to develop your skills in relevant areas.



Your profile

Applicants should hold a master’s degree in molecular biology, molecular medicine or similar.

We are looking for a highly motivated, well organized, and quality-conscious research assistant with an interest in learning and perfecting new technology. Fluency in Danish or English is essential, and the ability to work independently is a must. Previous experience with CRISPR-Cas genome editing, molecular cloning and /or fluorescent microscopy will be an advantage.


Who we are

The Research assistant will be affiliated with the section of Cellular health, Intervention and Nutrition at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University and comprises research within the areas of Plant Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, RNA Biology and Innovation, Protein Science, Cellular Health, Intervention and Nutrition. There are currently 75 full-time scientific staff and 95 PhD students. The department is responsible for two educations: Molecular Biology and Molecular Medicine with a yearly uptake of 160 students in total.

Start date and duration of employment

The position is available from the 01/06-2024 or as soon as possible hereafter.

This is a fixed-term position to end on 30/04-2026.

Deadline

The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range

Natural Sciences refers to the

Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
