I am seeking a highly motivated and skilled full-time research assistant to join my group working on marine invertebrates at the Department of Biology, UCPH. The successful candidate will become an integral part of our collaborative international research environment and play a leading role in the EHFAF funded project on effects and management of razor clam fishery.

Job description

The research assistant will be the daily leader and administrator of a 3 year EHFAF project that will test a new, potentially sustainable, hydraulic fishery of the invasive american razor clam (Ensis leei). We will assess the impact of this fishery on macro- and meiobenthos, advice stakeholders, and potentially provide an ecological and economical sustainable management plan. The research assistant will design and execute the research project in collaboration with private partners and consultants as well as students and other researchers involved. The job will also involve administrative and logistic tasks related to the project and the lab.

Qualifications

  • MSc. degree in Biology (or equivalent).
  • Background in ecology, marine biology, biodiversity assessment, and/or effect of fisheries
  • Experience with organising and conducting marine field work and related lab work
  • Experience with marine invertebrate/benthos sampling and processing
  • Excellent Danish and English, oral and written, communication skills
  • Experience with dissemination and report writing in Danish
  • Project leadership and collaboration skills

This is a 2,7 year marine biology position with options of extension. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct excellent research in marine biodiversity and benthic ecology with the potential for rapid translation into management and legislation of fishery. Terms of employment

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
