The cross-border region Denmark-Germany is turning into a powerhouse in industrial electronics. The Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE ) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) was established by a strong partnership between industry, academia and regional authorities. CIE is part of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and is located at SDU's beautiful campus in Sønderborg, in the inspiring building of Alsion, which is a center for science, culture and learning in the heart of Sønderborg and perched on the strait of water separating the island of Als from the mainland. The university has very close relations to industries in Sønderborg, Southern Denmark and Northern Germany.

The position

We are seeking for an innovative and visionary Assistant or Associate Professor in the field of EMC/EMI with strong interest in industrial applications and cooperation for the campus in Sønderborg. The Centre has currently approximately 30 faculty members including senior (full and associate professors), junior (assistant professors and Post Docs), PhDs and support staff. The position involves research, professional development, research education, teaching, including exams, supervision, and assessment work. A candidate will be expected to teach and supervise PhD students and undergraduate students, as well as to maintain and develop national and international contacts and secure funding appropriate for the position level applied for.   • Electromagnetic compatibility and immunity
  • Power electronic components and systems
  • Wide band-gap devices
  • Failure and reliability analysis
  • Packaging and thermal management  

Expectations of qualifications

The successful candidate holds a PhD in engineering or natural sciences and has an excellent track record in   

  • Various EMC disciplines preferable including
  • EMI and power electronics
  • System level EMC
  • Radiated emission
  • EMC correct PCB design and filtering
  • Spice and 3D full wave simulations
  • Experience with RF, antennas and propagation is an asset
  • Knowledge of current EMC regulatory requirements.
  • Teaching in the field of electrical engineering 
  • Turning new ideas into industrial practice 
  • Establishing and running industrial collaborations with leading actors in the field.

Please note: the Lecturer Training Programme (an individually planned in-service teacher training programme for university teachers) is mandatory for newly appointed assistant professors at SDU. The Lecturer Training Programme is also offered to associate or full professors who do not have any university training education. If an appllicant completed a course similar to the Lecturer Training Programme, it is possible to apply for an exemption from the programme.
