The Department of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a position in Data-Driven Simulation as full professor. Data-driven simulation spans several fields as it refers to the practice of using data-driven techniques to build, validate, and improve simulations of complex systems or phenomena interdisciplinary approach that leverages data from various sources to create and enhance simulations of real-world processes or systems. Data-driven simulation can be applied in various domains such as Manufacturing: Using data to simulate and optimize production processes, Healthcare: Developing patient-specific simulations for medical diagnosis and treatment planning, Environmental Science: Simulating climate, and agro-ecological systems using real-time data. Candidates are not limited to above fields of application but are expected to have published in premier venues related to data-driven simulation.

Description of the position
The department values interdisciplinary research and teaching and is actively involved in several cross-faculty research projects and educational programs. Thus, the successful applicant should be interested in facilitating cross-disciplinary interactions both within the Department of Computer Science and across the university, as well as internationally. The position offers opportunities to conduct interdisciplinary teaching, including courses for students with non-technical backgrounds, such as communication or health sciences.

Qualifications
Applicants are expected to have a solid track record of attracting significant external research funding, a significant publication record in high-level, international, peer-reviewed venues in the area of specialization, and an active international network of research collaborators. Candidates are also required to have documented university-level competencies in delivering high-quality undergraduate/graduate teaching and must be able to explain and reflect upon their own teaching practice and portfolio, as well as participate in strategic teaching planning. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen Teaching and Learning in Higher Education programme is necessary. Candidates are expected to have significant managerial qualifications, for instance, in positions of service to their institution or to the community, experience in leading a competitive research group, as well as outreach experience.

The candidate is expected to have qualifications for working in area of interdisciplinary, solution-oriented platform for the development of research-based solutions that can contribute to the green transition in Denmark, potentially supporting University of Copenhagen Green Solutions Centre (GSC) Initiative.

Duties include the applicant’s own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department.

Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

Negotiation for salary supplement and relocation expenses is possible. Note that Denmark protects the economic, social, and physical well-being of its workers, which includes robust health care, child care, elder care, and other generous benefits. Thus, direct salary comparisons across nations are typically not meaningful. Furthermore, unlike some North American universities, faculty positions are funded for all 12 months of the year, and thus there is no need for faculty to procure summer funding.

For this position, applicants will primarily be assessed based on their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, scientific profile in relation to ongoing research at the section, as well as documented teaching qualifications. The ability to attract external funding will also be considered, as will managerial and outreach qualifications.
