Postdoctoral Position in Algorithmic Cheminformatics

A two-year postdoc position, with possibility of extension, is available in the research group of Algorithmic Cheminformatics , Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). The position is in an EU-funded Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Project: “Complex chemical reaction networks for breakthrough scalable reservoir computing (CORENET)”, which brings together a multidisciplinary and multinational network to develop chemical reservoir computing in microfluidic and analytical devices. The starting date is as soon as possible for the applicant. Application deadline: 19 December 2022.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a PhD in the area of cheminformatics. The ideal candidate has a background in mathematics and in computer science and has familiarity with several of the following areas: algorithmics, mathematical modelling, graph transformation, and reservoir computing. Solid competences in programming and ease with formal thinking are prerequisites.

CORENET aims to construct brain-mimicking computing devices that utilise networks of chemical reactions as molecular information processing systems.

The research group in Algorithmic Cheminformatics at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at SDU offers a dynamic research environment, comprising two full professors, an associate professor, and several postdocs and students. The project includes partnerships with the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Radboud Universiteit, IBM Research Europe Zürich, and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). 

The research group is located at the main campus of SDU, which is located in Odense, the third largest city in Denmark. Denmark is known for its high standards of living, free health care, and competitive salaries. Applicants from outside Denmark are eligible for substantial tax reductions.

This position is subject to the entry into force of grant agreement no 101046294 by and between Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and The University of Southern Denmark and thereby funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme.
