About us

The Genome Integrity group explores the mechanisms of how human cells control their proliferation, and employ an extensive hierarchically organized network of proteins, termed DNA damage response (DDR) to maintain genome integrity, thereby directing the cell fate towards cell survival, senescence or cell death after exposure to genotoxic insults such as chemotherapeutic drugs or radiation. We focus on the control of the DNA damage response, the cell cycle regulation and the links of these pathways with cancer. The DNA Replication and Cancer group investigates the basic molecular mechanisms that control DNA replication in normal versus cancer cells. We focus on the understanding of mechanisms that regulate the speed and quality of DNA synthesis in normal cells and malfunction of this fundamental mechanism in cancer cells. About the position

The successful candidate will carry out projects focused on the characterization of DNA replication stress mechanisms and the identification of novel protein regulators of the cellular response to genotoxic stress. The projects will combine the use of high-content microscopy, genomic analysis, standard techniques in immunochemistry, and cell and molecular biology. The projects also involve the screening of novel drugs that impact DNA synthesis using several cancer models.

About you

We are looking for a highly driven, motivated and enthusiastic candidate with the following qualifications:

• A PhD degree in computer sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics or related areas
• One or more first-author publications in a well-ranked journal
• Good knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques
• Good expertise in high-content microscopy data analysis
• Familiarity with programming and coding is an advantage
• Some level of expertise in metabolomics is an advantage
• Good communication skills in English

We offer

We offer work on exciting projects in the international, dynamic scientific community at the DCRC and access to state-of-the-art equipment available at our Research Center, such as high content imaging, confocal and high-resolution microscopes, sequencing platforms, Seahorse metabolic analyzer, etc. We have weekly lab meetings, frequently invited international speakers, and regular interactions with the scientific community at Copenhagen University. For all employees, the DCRC offers a health-conscious canteen, fresh fruits, and access to sports activities, including an in-house gym. The working hours are of course smoke-free.

Terms of employment

We offer a 2-year contract with the possibility of extension.

Salary will be provided according to the current agreements between the Danish Cancer Society and the relevant trade union.
