Postdoc position in Theoretical (Electro-)Catalysis – DTU Physics
Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark
Job Description

We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral candidate in the field of theoretical catalysis. The postdoc will be a member of the Catalysis Theory Center (Cattheory) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) located at the outskirts of Copenhagen. Cattheory spans two departments at DTU, the Department of Physics, and the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage.
Cattheory is established with the ambition to become one of the leading research centers developing the theory of heterogeneous catalysis and electro-catalysis. This includes development of a fundamental understanding of chemical processes at the gas-solid and liquid-solid interface, as well as chemical conversion processes with special emphasis on sustainable production of fuels and chemicals. Cattheory is a highly collaborative effort, internally within experimental groups at DTU and externally with other leading universities. Cattheory has a strong infrastructure and computational facility.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The successful candidate must have a PhD in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or related areas as well as experience in the general area of catalysis for sustainable energy solutions. The candidate must display good communication skills in English, both written and spoken, be innovative and able to work both independently and in cross-disciplinary teams, as well as with international academic collaborators and industrial partners.
Successful candidates must document:

  • A strong background in, and an innovative approach to, catalysis theory relevant for fundamental understanding as well as the application potential of new insight
  • A strong background and interest in (electro-)catalysis and applications in sustainable energy conversion
  • Preferably a track record of academic cross-disciplinary collaboration

You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

  • Research experience
  • International impact and experience
  • Communication skills

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The position will initially be limited to one year.
