Postdoc Position in the Field of Supramolecular Chemistry and Polymer Catalysis

The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy , SDU in Odense invites applications for a postdoc position in the field of Supramolecular Chemistry and Polymer Catalysis in the Dr Changzhu Wu group . Wu group is working on enzyme catalysis, in which cutting-edge materials/molecules are designed to improve biocatalyst performance. The group applies interdisciplinary expertise in the field of enzyme catalysis, chemistry, polymer science, engineering, and microbiology to develop industrially relevant biocatalysts for applications.

This postdoc project is funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) in the framework of Project Grants in the Natural and Technical Sciences. The project intends to develop supramolecular enzymes by combining enzymes/proteins with supramolecular polymers. Our group is specialized in the design of supramolecules and synthetic polymers as well as molecular catalysis design, and protein modification.

We are a highly dynamic and international research group, actively engaging with on-site partners, e.g. Danish Institute for Advanced Study, Biomolecular Nanoscale Engineering Center, and SDU Protein Production and Purification Platform. We also work together with international groups in Germany and China for polymer design and enzyme catalysis.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious, and independent candidate with relevant background.

The ideal candidate has the following competences and skills:
•    A PhD degree in supramolecular chemistry, polymer chemistry, enzyme catalysis, or related disciplines with a good experience in organic synthesis or molecular catalysis design.
•    Excellent publication record in the relevant field.
•    Good interpersonal and communication skills (English) for effective teamwork across disciplines.
•    Preferably a background in supramolecular catalysis, organocatalysis, organometallic catalysis, polymer catalysis, protein-polymer conjugation or similar.

Starting date: As soon as possible. The position is for up for two years with the possibilities to extend for one more year. Application deadline: 30 April 2023.
