Postdoc of Forest & Environmental Economics

The Department of Food and Resource Economics (IFRO) at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a fixed-term 2-year post doc position in the areas of forest and environmental economics. Within the Department of Food and Resource Economics, the postdoc position will be placed in the Section for Environment and Natural Resources.

The position is funded through the EU-project, RESONATE (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101000574), and the candidate will work on the topic of economic resilience, in close collaboration with other project members in Copenhagen and across Europe to identify options for increased socio-ecological resilience of European forests. A core role for the candidate is the development of a systematic assessment of different aspects of demand resilience, and use this to develop a ladder. The candidate will also contribute to a preference elicitation study on forest owners using choice experiment. An important topic for the project is the handling of risk and uncertainty.

Qualifications

In addition to this specific project, the postdoc’s duties will include teaching as well as participation in other related projects. The position may also include performance of other duties (e.g. public sector service and supervision of BSc and MSc students).

The successful candidate should have:

  • A PhD in agricultural, forest, or environmental economics
  • Experience in environmental valuation techniques
  • Experience in econometrics
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Interest in interdisciplinary research and an open mindset towards this
  • Good communication skills, both for scientific communication and broader
  • Preferably, experience of topics related to uncertainty, risk and adaptive behaviour.

Terms of employment

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

The starting salary is currently up to DKK 440.935 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 75.399). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
