Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark
Be the First to Apply
Job Description
A position is open in the X-ray imaging group at the Technical University of Denmark. The postdoc is part of a larger inter-disciplinary effort (Biocomfert) aiming to enable 3D multiscale tomographic imaging of nanoparticles in plant tissue. With a specific focus to develop nano-scale 3D imaging in vivo with both laboratory and synchrotron X-ray sources. The project - which is a collaboration between the Plant Institute at Copenhagen University, McGill in Canada and DTU Energy - relies on taking innovative steps within X-ray instrumentation, reconstruction, segmentation, sample preparation, and structural quantification at the same time.
Your responsibilities
You will be responsible for developing in-vivo nano-scale X-ray tomography and laminography on an existing setup that incorporates a liquid metal jet X-ray source and a single photon counting direct X-ray installed at the 3D Imaging center at DTU Physics. You will design and take part in the implementation of correlative approaches for plant imaging including X-ray Fluorescence spectroscopy and/or X-ray small angle scattering both at DTU and at Max IV Laboratory synchrotron in Sweden. You will be part of the Biocomfert project team that aims to develop nanoparticle based nutrition delivery to plants.
Your Qualifications
You are excited about experimental science and advanced data analysis. We expect that you enjoy being part of a team, that you have a sense of humor, are a good problem solver, and that you can work efficiently and independently.
For this position, we favor candidates with a PhD degree in physics, optics, applied mathematics, or similar.
You should:
- Have a solid grasp of optics and X-ray science.
- Be skilled in data analysis with proven experience with programming, e.g. Python.
- Be skilled in experimental work with specific focus on imaging biological material.
Previous experience with X-ray imaging and/or bio-imaging is an advantage but is not required.
Your workplace
The 3D Imaging centre, 3DIM at DTU was inaugurated in 2021. It comprises a local infrastructure with 10 CT scanners offering 3D visualisation to university groups, hospitals, companies, and museums. It will operate the new tomography instrument at DanMAX at MAX IV, starting ultimo 2023.
Assessment
The assessment of the applications will be made by Senior Researcher Rajmund Mokso, and Professor Henning Friis Poulsen (head of 3DIM) from DTU Physics.
