Postdoc in Synthetic Chemistry

Updated: about 1 year ago
Deadline: 15 Mar 2023

Department of Chemistry
Faculty of Science

University of Copenhagen

Applications are invited for a two year postdoctoral position in synthetic chemistry. The position is part of an ERC Consolidator Grant QLIMIT that is focused on probing the limits of quantum interference effects in molecules. This project is focused on testing theoretical predictions for controlling reaction product ratios using dynamical effects in molecules. Prospective candidates should be ready to work independently, collaborate with theoreticians and provide advice to the theory team, as well as undertaking the synthetic studies to test the predictions. If successful, we anticipate this project will open up new strategies for controlling reaction product ratios.

The candidate should have significant experience in organic synthesis and be trained in synthesis involving unstable products and intermediates. Part of the position is to build facilities for the synthesis of sensitive compounds under inert atmosphere and at low temperature using schlenk, as well as other, techniques. Besides being a trained synthetic chemist analytic skills are key for the success of this part of the project.

The postdoc’s duties will include research within synthetic chemistry as well as teaching. The post may also include performance of other duties.
