Postdoc in Statistics and the Mathematics of Insurance and Economics

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen is seeking top early-career researchers for a number of attractive postdoctoral positions in Statistics and the Mathematics of Insurance and Economics. The positions are one- to three-year positions, with application deadline November 15, 2021 and standard starting date October 1st, 2022.


The salary amounts to 487,000-516,000 DKK/year (app. EUR 65,000-69,000 EUR/year) incl. 17.1 % in pension contribution, depending on seniority. Potential applicants from outside of Denmark can find information about life in Denmark - including taxation, healthcare, etc. – at ism.ku.dk.


The teaching load is typically two quarter (half-semester) courses per year of which one usually is as a teaching assistant.


The Department of Mathematical Sciences   has strong research groups  in many areas of pure and applied mathematics, and has an active postdoc and visitors programme; we refer to our homepage for more information.


Applicants hired via this call will be affiliated with either the section Insurance and Economics or the section Statistics and Probability Theory . Strong applicants in all areas covered by the topics of these sections will be considered, and postdoc stipends not attached to a specific center or grant are available. In particular, there will be postdoc stipends in the following specific areas/centers of the departments:


  • Copenhagen Causality Lab. Research topics include: Applications of causal inference and distributional robustness (for more information contact Professor Jonas Peters ) and causal inference for event processes and other stochastic dynamical systems (for more information contact Professor Niels Richard Hansen ).

  • Within statistical genetics and population genetics (for more information contact Professor Carsten Wiuf ).

  • Statistical inference for coupled stochastic processes, with applications in ecology and/or neuroscience (for more information contact Professor Susanne Ditlevsen )

Recruitment for these positions are done through the University of Copenhagen electronic recruitment system linked here . The deadline for applying on that site will be  November 15, 2021, midnight local time (11:59 p.m. CET).


We expect to send invitations for interviews in December 2021 or January 2022. The interviews will typically take place in January or February of 2022, and our search is expected to be concluded around April. The standard starting date is October 1st, 2022.
