Job Description

A 1-year postdoc position is available at the Center for Fast Ultrasound Imaging (CFU), Department of Health Technology (DTU Health Tech) at DTU from May 2024 sponsored by the European Research Council (ERC). It is conducted in collaboration between CFU and the MEMS group at DTU Health Tech, the University of Copenhagen, and the Copenhagen University Hospital (Rigshospitalet) in the ERC Synergy Grant “3-D Super resolution Ultrasound Real time imaging of Erythrocytes” - SURE.
The SURE project develops and researches new ultrasound methods for super resolution and flow imaging in the human body. The emphasize in this position is on vector flow imaging in the main arteries and the estimation of pressure gradients.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The principle responsibility of the postdoc is to translate imaging schemes for pressure gradient estimation from the laboratory to clinical trials. This includes develop imaging schemes for acquiring the vector flow data and optimizing the motion and pressure estimation algorithms in 2D and 3D. This involves performing a range of phantom and human experiments to develop and refine the imaging algorithms. The clinical studies are conducted in collaboration with Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen.
The research is conducted in a truly multi-disciplinary environment consisting of the 4 academic partners specializing in advanced ultrasound imaging, silicon CMUT probes, animal experiments, and clinical investigations, and the main purpose is to translate the  method from a research idea to the clinic. 
Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree electrical engineering, computer science or a similar degree. The candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • You are motivated by both individual and team accomplishments
  • You thrive on collaboration and teamwork 
  • You have worked in an ultrasound laboratory with advanced research scanners
  • Have worked with vector flow estimation and developed imaging schemes for this
  • Have prior knowledge of clinical imaging
  • Have a desire to advance the field and help PhD students learn

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. 
The period of employment is 1 year. Starting date is 1 May 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
