At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a position as Postdoc in Edge AI for High Stability-Robustness of Power Electronics in Modern Power Systems is open for appointment from 1st January 2022 or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 1 year. Job description

The position is offered in relation to the research program "eGrid" and the Postdoc will be positioned to the section for Power Electronics System Integration and Materials “PE-SIM”.

The Postdoc will work on the research project Edge AI for High Stability-Robustness of Power Electronics in Modern Power Systems, which is an interdisciplinary project funded by the Villum Foundation's Synergy programme, where he/she will work on artificial intelligence (AI) for power electronics in a collaboration between leading experts from AAU Energy and Department of Architecture, Design & Media Technology at Aalborg University. 

Research areas will be within the power electronic converters with a focus on the control system development based on AI, covering both hardware design and software programming with the microcontroller, small-signal modelling and dynamic analysis of grid-converter interactions and advanced control methods with high stability robustness in a wide range of grid conditions.

Applicants should be highly motivated with the control, modelling and application of AI for grid-interactive power electronic systems.

The following working experiences are required:

1) Hardware design and experimental tests of power electronics converters

2) Microcontroller programming for power electronics systems

3) Small-signal modelling and dynamic analysis of grid-connected power converters

4) Controller design and testing of grid-forming inverters

5) Machine learning/deep learning algorithms

Qualification requirements: 

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
