Job Description

Are you looking for a place to grow your skills in low-impact biosolutions, including their research, development, sustainability assessment, and commercialization? Then this job is for you. We are looking for a self-driven and innovative enzymologist or similar, to help drive the exploration of enzyme-based biosolutions. 

As part of the Center for Biosustainability, we are a group of enzymologists, chemists and microbiologist working together in a collaborative way. We are currently around 15 people in the group. We focus on developing enzymes to be used in industrial processes for the production of commodity chemicals and agrochemicals, and for crop protection.

Responsibilities and qualifications
You’ll be working with biocatalysis in the lab, and quantitative sustainability assessments at the desk. You will need strong communication and leadership skills, and you’ll be supervising students, and communicating your results at conferences and in scientific journals. You will develop your own project in collaboration with your colleagues, within the group’s focus areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Scientific leadership, including project management and supervision
  • Experimental work, including enzymology, process optimization etc.
  • Scientific communication, including conference presentations and publications

Qualifications:

  • Background in chemistry, enzymology, chemical engineering, microbiology, or similar
  • Strong drive for innovation
  • Strong communication skills, including organization, scientific writing, and oral presentation skills.
  • Great command of English in speech and writing. 
  • Previous experience with life-cycle assessment, techno-economic assessment, or absolute sustainability assessment is an advantage.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 2 years. The position is full time. Starting date as soon as possible, but we are willing to wait for the right candidate.
