Postdoc for bioinformatics position in 3-dimensional genome organization at Center for Protein Research (CPR)

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher with expertise in bioinformatics to unravel the Dynamics of Genome Architecture for a fixed 3-year position to start earliest in November 2022.

The position will be based at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) in the Structure and Function of the 3D Genome group headed by Nils Krietenstein.

Our research
The Krietenstein group studies genome architecture and chromatin dynamics. It is our goal to elucidate the dynamics of spatial chromatin organization. We employ state-of-the-art sequencing technologies to elucidate 3D genome organization at nucleosome resolution (Micro-C) and use complementary 1D approaches for epigenetic profiling in the context of fundamental research as well as health-relevant cellular processes. It is also our strong interest to develop novel tools to address 3D genome organization dynamics in the context of cellular heterogeneity. The Krietenstein lab is located at the Novo Nordisk Center for Protein Research (CPR) in Copenhagen. Your job
You will join a junior research team to develop novel bioinformatic tools to decipher the dynamic structure of 3-dimensional genome organization. An essential part of your work will be to develop novel pipelines on an HPC cluster to profile genome organization with high resolution from heterogeneous cell populations. Therefore, a strong interest in technology development and next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis is required. The development of bioinformatics tools will be in close collaboration with “wet-lab”-team members; therefore, good communication and a strong interest in collaboration are required. The Krietenstein lab has a strong interest in contributing to the collaborative community at CPR and in Copenhagen. Your work and interest in engaging in the scientific community will be essential to establishing the Krietenstein lab in its new environment. You will have the opportunity to work independently and vigorously influence the research direction of the Krietenstein group at CPR. Other tasks will include dissemination of your discoveries in internal seminars, active participation in international workshops and conferences, and writing of scientific manuscripts.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a Ph.D. in Life science or related fields.
  • You are experienced with scripting in R, Python, and bash.
  • You have an active interest in understanding genome regulation.
  • You have documented expertise in Next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflow and analysis of functional genomics data sets (e.g., ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, Hi-C, Micro-C).
  • Good organization and flexibility.
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams.
  • Excellent English skills, written and spoken.

Place of employment
The employment is at CPR ( ), a Novo Nordisk Foundation Center of excellence established in 2007 and embedded in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, to promote basic and applied research on human proteins of medical relevance. The Center comprises modern laboratories, supercomputer resources and state-of-the- art facilities within protein science and genomics. Terms of employment
The employment as a postdoc is a full-time and fixed-term position for 3 years. Starting date is 01. November 2022 or by agreement.

Salary, pension, and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Currently, the monthly salary starts at 35,600 DKK/ approx. 4,780 Euro (April 2022-level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark for the last 10 years.
