A 2-year post-doctoral position is available in Peter Brodersen’s laboratory, University of Copenhagen, to study the mechanisms underlying regulated degradation of specific microRNAs (miRNAs) in plants. The position is available from 1 March 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The project uses biochemical, structural and genetic methods to explore the conformations of the central component of the RNA Induced Silencing Complex, ARGONAUTE1, that facilitate its degradation in a manner specific to its bound miRNA. Our ongoing work has identified sites on ARGONAUTE1 as well as specific Hsp90 co-chaperones that are likely to be of importance for regulated miRNA degradation, and the project will use these pieces of information as starting points for further investigations. We will also attempt to identify triggers of miRNA degradation using transcriptome-wide screening.
We are looking for a motivated researcher with
- a strong background in molecular biology, preferably with experience in plant molecular biology
- an interest in fundamental RNA biology
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a successful completion of PhD studies by a paper published in a respected international journal, or, as a minimum, deposited on a pre-print server such as BiorXiv.
For more information, please contact Prof Peter Brodersen, Email: [email protected] (P.B.)
Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
The application, in English, must be submitted electronically by clicking APPLY NOW below.
Please include
- A cover letter outlining your experience and motivation to apply
- Curriculum vitae
- Diplomas (Master and PhD degree or equivalent)
- Complete publication list
- Separate reprints of 3 particularly relevant papers
The deadline for applications is Monday 5 December 2022, 23:59 GMT +1.
