Updated: 11 months ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 15 Jun 2023

Are you interested in organics synthesis, transition metal catalysis, utilization and activation of carbon dioxide and can you contribute to the development of exploring novel findings within this field? Then the Skrydstrup group part of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Research Center (CORC) invites you to apply for a 3-year Post Doc position.

Job description

  • You will be contributing to developing new chemical transformations and finding novel reactivity’s in the field of organic synthesis, homogeneous transition metal catalysis and carbon dioxide activation and utilization.
  • You will be working primarily with developing new synthetic methods where waste plastics are transformed into carbon dioxide capturing molecules.
  • The position will focus on aspects of organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, homogeneous transition metal catalysis and carbon dioxide capture and utilization.
  • You will be involved in independent and collaborative projects dealing with carbon dioxide.

These activities will be in close collaboration with other members of the Skrydstrup group, but also members of other research groups within the NNF CO2 research center (CORC).

Your profile

  • The candidate must have a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry.
  • The candidate is required to have a strong background in organic synthesis and homogeneous transition metal catalysis.
  • The candidate must be familiar with organometallic chemistry and the synthesis of organometallic complexes.
  • The candidate must be familiar with utilization and capture of carbon dioxide with focus on polymeric materials.
  • The candidate must have good communication skills and preferably experience in writing drafts for publications.
  • The candidate must have experience with international collaborations.
  • The candidate must be able to work both independently but also serve as an excellent team player, and participate in training younger students.
Who we are

The Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 research center is a newly center established at Aarhus University in January 2022, with the overall goal of developing research that will limit the amount of atmospheric CO2, by catching and utilizing carbon dioxide. Furthermore, the candidate will be part of The Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO, www.inano.au.dk) which was established in 2002. Finally, the candidate will spend most of the time in the

Skrydstrup group

, an international group consisting of approximately 6 Post Docs and 12 PhD students, among other students and academic and technical staff.

What we offer

The successful candidate is offered:

  • a well-developed research infrastructure, laboratories and access to shared equipment.
  • an exciting interdisciplinary environment with many national, international and industrial collaborators.
  • a research climate encouraging lively, open and critical discussion within and across different fields of research.
  • a work environment with close working relationships, networking and social activities.
  • a workplace characterised by professionalism, equality and a healthy work-life balance.
Place of work and area of employment

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Letter of reference

If you want a referee to upload a letter of reference on your behalf, please state the referee’s contact information when you submit your application. We strongly recommend that you make an agreement with the person in question before you enter the referee’s contact information, and that you ensure that the referee has enough time to write the letter of reference before the application deadline. Unfortunately, it is not possible to ensure that letters of reference received after the application deadline will be taken into consideration.
