AAU Energy is a dynamic engineering research department in continuous growth and inspiring surroundings. AAU Energy has a very international environment and covers all areas of clean- and sustainable energy systems of the future within electrical-, thermal-, and mechatronic energy technologies. AAU Energy has campuses in both Aalborg and Esbjerg. These positions are to be opened in Aalborg.

Our mission is to be world-leading in both research and research-based education of the energy engineers of the future. AAU Energy has approximately 300 employees of many nationalities, of which 25 are administrative staff. In addition, AAU Energy has constantly around 50-70 guest researchers from all over the world.

We have extensive and leading technology workshops and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are primarily carried out in direct collaboration with industry.

The Associate Professor positions will be offered in the section for Applied Power Electronic Systems(APES). The research will be expected to be conducted within the Artificial Intelligence, cyber security, reliability, sustainability, and recyclability in Power Electronics areas. Teaching will primarily be in Advanced Power Electronics as well as Energy Engineering, but also other study programs at the University.

The perfect candidates should demonstrate their vision of the way ahead in such areas as well as their ideas for funding, initiating collaborations, and awareness of the present challenges in the above sector, as well as their thoughts on how to address them.

Essential requisites are:
1) a Ph.D. degree in Power Electronics
2) a 3–4-year solid background at least at a Postdoc level in the Power Electronics area
3) teaching experience at a B.Sc. or an M.Sc. level or equivalent, preferably as a lecturer
4) proven experience of project application and fundraising
5) project coordination, e.g., work-package leader
6) scholar exchange experience.

Other qualifications like teaching at the Ph.D. level, organizing courses or schools, coordinating chapters and networks, or participating in the technical organization of conferences are nice to have but not mandatory. English fluency is mandatory. The candidate should be a Danish speaker or willing to learn Danish soon.

Qualification requirements: 

The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.

  • Copies of relevant diplomas(Master of Science and PhD). On request you could be asked for an official English translation.

  • Teaching qualifications described in the teaching portfolio.  If this is not enclosed the applicant must include an explanation for its absence.
  • Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organisations and the like.
  • Additional qualifications in relation to the position.
  • References/recommendations.
  • Personal data.

Wages and employment

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
