Microbiologist for Core Facility - DTU Health Tech

Job Description

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Department of Health Technology (DTU Health Tech), Core Facilities is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic microbiologist for a position as Senior Officer.
The position consists of equal parts of research related activities and managing of our GMO1 laboratory. The research focus area for the candidate is to contribute to projects running in the lab which are focused on in vivo detection of metabolism in health and disease. One of our core focus areas is on pathogenic bacterial infection models but also assistance in general mammalian cell growth and microbiological assay development, support of research projects together with student supervision, will be part of the job.
Main work tasks: 

  • Develop defined parts of interdisciplinary research projects rooted in microbiology.
  • Develop assays within immunology and microbiology.  
  • Develop cellular models for bacterial infection.  
  • Implement microbiological assays 
  • Assist in development of teaching material and student supervision. 
  • Standardize microbiological workflows including cloning and qPCR.
  • Work with and instruct in the use of microbiological, biochemical, biophysical, and molecular biological techniques.
  • Manage GMO1 cell laboratory (including introduction of new users, assist with risk assessments, maintain cell bank, ordering, cleaning, servicing of equipment, risk assessment preparation and approvals).
  • Participate in coordinating and strengthen microbiological research facilities at DTU Health Tech.

Our expectations of you
You are a skilled microbiologist with a PhD degree or similar academic level and a proven track record within cellular bacterial infection models. You like to do experimental work and can independently plan and execute experimental work. You will manage our GMO1 lab with mixed user backgrounds by being helpful, meticulous, and friendly. You have good English oral and written skills, and are a team player with curiosity and drive, who likes to be part of interdisciplinary research teams.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You are employed as Senior Officer.
