Light Microscopy applications specialist at CFIM (Core Facility for Integrated Microscopy)

Applications are invited for a position as Light Microscopy applications specialist at the Core Facility for Integrated Microscopy (CFIM), the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen, to commence as soon as possible, and preferably no later than 1 April 2024.

CFIM (www.cfim.ku.dk ) was inaugurated in August 2010 and has serviced more than 1600 users with access to state-of-the-art light and electron microscopes.

The successful applicant will be part of a highly international team composed of light and electron microscopy application specialists, an image analyst, laboratory technicians and secretary covering six different nationalities. CFIM is located in the center of Copenhagen, at the North Campus of the University and has the mission of giving highest-level user service provision in advanced microscopy technologies to internal and external users from a broad range of disciplines within life sciences.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and supporting Super Resolution (SR) microscopy technologies at CFIM in collaboration with CFIM’s staff
  • Developing/implementing sample preparation protocols for SR microscopy technologies
  • Creating data handling and post-processing solutions for SR datasets in collaboration with the CFIM image analyst
  • Maintenance and development of all systems at CFIM, with special focus on SR systems
  • Introducing, training and supporting users on all CFIM light microscopes
  • Meeting CFIM users to define optimal imaging strategies according to the facility’s portfolio
  • Staying up to date with the latest developments on microscopy methods and technologies

Assisting in the organization and instruction of CFIM courses.

The successful applicant should have:

  • Relevant experience in light microscopy applications in general, holding a M.Sc. or PhD. degree in related scientific disciplines
  • Expertise in SR technologies, including SIM, STED, and SMLM
  • Strong motivation to support and train users with a problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent social, communication and organization skills
  • Self-driving nature, and teamwork competences
  • Fluency in English is a must

Place of employment
The place of employment is at Core Facility for Integrated Microscopy , Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The Position is permanent. The starting date is as soon as possible.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be as Special Consultant., with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
