Lab Manager Position at the Department of Neuroscience

We are looking for a highly motivated and independent laboratory manager to support our on-going research in the field of motor control and to provide technical support and assistance with teaching in the department to commence June 1st, 2024.

Essential experience and skills

  • A master’s degree in molecular biomedicine, human physiology, neuroscience or equivalent
  • You must hold an animal experimentation license (equivalent to a FELASA certificate).
  • Extensive experience with handling rodents (rats and mice) and performing both chronic and acute surgeries
  • Experience with surgical procedures for in vivo intracellular recording in adult mice
  • Experience with behavioral testing of rodents
  • Experience with genotyping
  • Experience with immunochemistry
  • Experience in electrophysiological techniques (in human and animal) to help set up and test teaching equipment
  • Knowledge of ethical guidelines and safety protocols for animal research.
  • Good English skills, written and spoken
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Your Job

As part of your work hours will be expected to contribute the following:

  • Assistance with in vivo intracellular recording experiments
  • Assistance with anatomical experiments
  • Mouse colony management and genotyping
  • Updating of chemicals on Kemibrug
  • Ordering and billing
  • Monitoring and ensure adherence to ethical and safety guidelines in the research group including securing first aid options on the laboratory floor
  • Setting up and testing electrophysiological equipment for teaching related exercises
  • Introduce new department employees to laboratory work and safety procedures in the department
  • Collaboration with other technical and administrative staff in the department
  • Providing support during teaching related exercises in the department

Terms of employment

The weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a permanent position. The starting date is June 1st, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
