Job Description

If you have an interest and knowledge within wind turbine aerodynamics and the aeroelastic design of the rotors and you would like to carry out research in a group of highly competent researchers supported by advanced computational tools and test facilities, a position as a researcher at DTU Wind and Energy Systems will be the perfect place to be.

The researcher will join a cross-disciplinary, international team working on developing experimental and numerical methods for wind turbine aerodynamics with funding from national and international research projects. Also, the newest research will be applied together with leading manufacturers within the wind turbine industry.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The research field of the position is focused on research in aerodynamic and aeroelastic design of wind turbine rotors. The work for the researcher has emphasis on the development of aerodynamic reduced order models for wind turbine rotors and methods to optimize the rotors. In particular, the researcher will work with development of optimization tools where well established tools like HAWC2 and HAWCStab2 will be used.

The researcher will have the opportunity to join a cross-disciplinary, international team working on developing experimental and numerical methods for wind turbine aerodynamics and aeroacoustics.

The particular areas of responsibilities include:

  • Development and validation of aerodynamic modelling of wind turbine rotors
  • Development of optimization tools for aeroelastic design of wind turbine rotors
  • Design and optimization of wind turbine rotors
  • It is required that key research results are disseminated in peer reviewed journal papers and presented at scientific conferences.
  • Most of the work will be done in nationally and internationally funded research projects and apply the newest research together with leading manufacturers within the wind turbine industry.

The candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • A strong background in aerodynamics for wind turbine rotors
  • Experience with at least Blade Element Momentum and numerical optimization methods
  • Experience with wind turbine rotor design
  • Ability to work independently towards the research goals and deliverables
  • Ability to pro-actively collaborate and coordinate with other researchers
  • Fluency in communicating, reading and writing English

You must contribute to the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
