Job Description

The National Food Institute (DTU Food) at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as assistant professor/researcher in the Research Group on Bioactives – Analysis and Application. One of the focus areas of the group is investigation of the content and bioavailability of vitamins in foods. The group has a dynamic staff with high international visibility, many research collaborations with leading international universities and organisations and a successful track record of national and international research projects. 
The research field concerns determinants for the content of vitamin active compounds in foods, their bioavailability and the dependence on food matrix and processing.
Responsibilities
You overall focus will be to expand DTU Food’s research within nutritional chemistry with emphasis on vitamins. If you are interested in helping us with this, then perhaps you are our new assistant professor/researcher.  
You will:

  • Develop analytical methods to quantify the individual vitamers, as well as precursor and degradation products. 
  • Evaluate content of vitamins during processing, and the effect on bioavailability. 
  • Contribute to further development of the research field of the group and particularly engage in development of our competencies in analytical chemistry, especially LC-MS/MS. 
  • Engage in collaboration with industry and authorities. 
  • Contribute to our expansion in the field by developing and optimising in vitro and in vivo models to investigate bioaccessibility and bioavailability 
  • Engage in teaching, innovation and advisory activities in relation to food technology, food chemistry, and food nutrition in a broad sense. Teaching activities will include supervision of student projects at different levels (BSc, MSc, PhD). 

DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
Qualifications  

  • You must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in food science and technology. 
  • You must have documented research experience in the field of quantification and stability of vitamins in foods
  • You should have some knowledge within nutrition
  • You should have some experience with food processing
  • You must have in depth experience with development and validation of analytical method for quantification of bioactive compounds in foods by LC-MS/MS
  • You should preferably have international experience
  • You must have good communication skills both in oral and written English

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
