At the Department of Electrical Engineering, we seek a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Integration of Power-to-X and Sector Coupling for our Center for Electrical Power and Energy.

Responsibilities and qualifications
You are expected to be a major driver for the development of tools and methods for modelling and studying the impact of large-scale deployment of Power-to-X systems and extensive sector coupling. Your profile shall contribute to DTU’s strategic focus on sustainable transformation and digitalization. You are enthusiastic about sustainable energy management in general and feel passionate about realizing the full potential of coupling electricity with heating/cooling and the gas sector. You are expected to have a holistic approach and your playground will be simulation models considering the different objectives and the different time scales of the various energy domains including operation under market conditions. Your research will provide the basis for the future advanced coordinated operation of the entire energy system.

We welcome you as an integral part of our team of researchers that develops the solutions for the operation of the future renewable-based energy systems with optimal integration of various new technologies. You will be part of an environment where we explore and develop important new tools and methodologies for energy system operation in a future market framework, - and ultimately paving the way for a successful green transition.

You will contribute to:

  • Supervision of BSc and MSc students, and co-supervision of PhD students
  • Course design and teaching BSc- and MSc-level courses
  • Developing multi-domain simulation methods and tools that include Power-to-X and sector coupling
  • Developing Power-to-X-plant operation and control methods for optimal economic performance and system integration
  • Creating new cross sector operation methods based on the digitalization of the sectors and the regulatory setup
  • Attracting funding in cooperation with industrial partners and fellow researchers
  • Promoting our research nationally and internationally

We expect you to have a scientific background in mathematical modeling, control systems or similar. Further, it will be an advantage if you possess:

  • Good knowledge of design and operation of energy infrastructures, power/heat systems, and Power-to-X technologies
  • Understanding of the fundamental challenges in co-simulation and experience in integrating two or more energy models
  • Experience in programming and good knowledge of Python

At the end of the period as Assistant Professor, you must be able to be responsible for courses and to lecture in Danish.  Thus, you must be willing to learn Danish during the Assistant Professorship.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union.
