JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking 2 highly skilled and experienced Associate Professors or Senior Researchers to join our team, focusing on the reliability and condition monitoring of mechanical components in wind turbines. One position is part-time (up to 50%) and the other is full-time at the department of Wind and Energy System of Technical University of Denmark, located in Roskilde, Denmark. This role involves conducting cutting-edge research to enhance the performance, reliability, and maintenance strategies of wind turbine systems, with a particular emphasis on drivetrain components such as gearboxes and bearings. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative solutions that reduce operation and maintenance costs, improve energy efficiency, and extend the lifespan of wind turbines.

Responsibilities and qualifications
- Design and implement research projects focused on the reliability and condition monitoring of wind turbine mechanical components.
- Analyze and interpret data from condition monitoring systems to identify trends, predict failures, and recommend maintenance strategies.
- Develop and validate models for predicting the performance and failure modes of wind turbine components.
- Collaborate with industry partners to apply research findings to real-world applications and improve wind turbine design and operation.
- Stay abreast of advancements in wind turbine technology and condition monitoring techniques, and incorporate these into research projects.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at relevant conferences and workshops.
Basic Qualifications
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field, with a strong focus on wind energy systems.
- Ideally, minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral research experience in wind turbine reliability and condition monitoring.
- Proven track record of conducting high-impact research, as evidenced by publications in top-tier journals and presentations at major conferences.
- Deep understanding of wind turbine design, operation, and maintenance practices.
- Expertise in condition monitoring techniques, data analysis, and failure prediction models for mechanical components.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with industry partners, academic collaborators, and research staff.
- Previous teaching experiences with strong track records.

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professor/researcher/postdoc and documented didactic/pedagogic training (for an associate professor).
To be appointed as a senior researcher, you must have completed a didactic/pedagogic education. If you do not have the necessary education, then it is possible to complete this requirement within a period of two years of appointment.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
Starting date is May 1st , February 2024 ( or according to agreement ). One position is part-time (up to 50%) and the other is full-time.
