We plan to hire  several new faculty members within the next 5 years. The positions advertised in this job ad are on open topics related to the general areas of Cyber-Physical Systems and Computing Continuum.
Responsibilities and qualifications 
This role is instrumental in attracting both funding and student talent to expand our activities. As a member of our team, you will support our teaching and contribute to our MSc program in Computer Science and Engineering , and play a key role in shaping the expanding the ESE section.
As a part of your key responsibilities, you will:

  • Publish impactful work in leading journals and conferences in your field.
  • Secure funding for your research area from both Denmark and the European Union.
  • Teach, guide, and supervise BSc and MSc student projects, as well as supervise PhD students. 
  • Design and develop novel course modules for both the BSc and MSc levels. 
  • Actively participate in creating a robust and vibrant environment within the expanding ESE section.

Open Topics: We are recruiting candidates based on excellence on an open set of topics. You have a strong track record related to an area within Cyber-Physical Systems and the Computing Continuum. We list below several examples. The list is not exhaustive, and any areas are welcome:

  • Low-Power Time-Sensitive Wireless Communication: Dependable communication protocols for low-power time-sensitive wireless networks. Strategies for mitigating cross-technology interference and harnessing battery-free operations, with an emphasis on optimizing network robustness and enhancing edge computing capabilities.
  • Innovative Wearables for Health Monitoring: Designing wearable technologies for real-time health (and sports) performance monitoring. Involves the integration of sensor fusion, low-power communication, and embedded AI to develop non-intrusive, efficient wearables capable of providing actionable insights into users’ physical and neurological health.
  • IC design and EDA: Uncovering new architectures, methodologies and techniques in IC design, focusing on performance, power efficiency, and cost reduction. Electronic Design Automation (EDA): development of automated systems for the design of microelectronic systems, including emerging more-than-Moore systems.
  • Green Computing: Reducing the environmental impact of digital technologies. Strategies for minimizing energy consumption in computing and communication, e.g., in from AI accelerators to data centers, future cellular networks, IoT devices, enhancing their energy efficiency without compromising dependability. Implementing sustainable practices and links to renewable energy sources in the design and operation of devices and networks. 
  • Key Digital Technologies for Sustainability: Advanced digital technologies, including AI, 5G, cloud, and edge computing, for sustainability and circular economy. Digital technologies play a vital role in enabling the green transition by enhancing efficiency, reducing emissions, and fostering innovation.
  • Cybersecurity of Industrial Systems and Critical Infrastructures: Enhancing the security and resilience of industrial control systems and critical infrastructures. Developing robust cybersecurity measures to protect against evolving threats and ensure the reliability of essential services.
  • Dependable Edge Computing and Real-Time Systems: Architectures and resource management mechanisms for efficient virtualization of critical operations and for data processing at the edge. Advance real-time systems and edge computing technologies through innovations in system design and operational efficiency and predictability, ensuring reliable and timely virtualization and data analysis closer to data sources. 

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both. As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.
You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

The following qualifications are a plus:

  • Demonstrated ability to attract funding.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses both undergraduate and graduate.
  • Strong publication record and impact in top venues.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The starting date is according to mutual agreement, with a preferred date in the fall of 2024. The position is a full-time position at the DTU campus in Kongens Lyngby.
