Associate Professor or DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Operations & Supply Chain Management - DTU Management
At the Department for Technology, Management and Economics (DTU Management) at DTU we are strengthening our research team in Operations & Supply Chain Management (O&SCM). We see research and teaching in supply chain management is core at a technical university. We take theoretical as well as methodological perspectives on supply chain management with the overall purpose of understanding how digital transformation and other industrial changes define the future supply chain systems.
We are an influential research group within maritime management and logistics, healthcare operations management and sustainable freight transport and logistics. In parallel, we are strengthening our research within production and services. Thus, if these topics are your areas of interest, you could be our next Associate Professor or DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Operations & Supply Chain Management. You will be part of a talented and ambitious team, which is situated at the very heart of DTU's mission to develop and create value for the benefit of society.
The digitalisation of production and service systems creates a new breeding ground for increasingly complex planning problems within operations and supply chain management. Our new associate or assistant professor shall perform research to assist the production and service sectors in developing decision-support models to improve efficiency while actively pursuing the green transition agenda. Our research is based on methodologies from operations research, simulation modelling, process optimisation etc. Thus, our new professor is expected to come from a background in either engineering, computer science, or economics.
Responsibilities and qualifications
As our new assistant or associate professor, you will play a pivotal role in our ambition to further strengthening the department's teaching and research activities within Operations & Supply Chain Management. Furthermore, the position is vital to our efforts to transfer new knowledge and methodologies into the Danish industry to reap the benefits of digitalisation and automation. The department enjoys close collaboration with other departments at DTU and with key players on the national and international scene. Thus, to continue growing your existing network, you will be expected to initiate new collaborations with relevant stakeholders within research and industry. Also, you should bring the latest results from your research into our teaching to educate the new generation of engineering graduates within Operations & Supply Chain Management to teach and inspire undergraduate and postgraduate students.
You will work with your colleagues to deliver an exceptional learning environment for students at all levels.
You will be responsible for teaching courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.
As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position, you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.
You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:
- Experience and quality of teaching
- Research experience
- Research vision and potential
- International impact and experience
- Societal impact
- Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
