The University seeks to appoint an associate professor to the Department of Immunology and Microbiology to commence 1 July 2023 or as soon as possible herafter. The position is limited to 5 years and is a 20% position.

Job description
The associate professor will be a part of the Bacterial Infection Biology (BIB) group at Costerton Biofilm Center and have close ties with the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center. The associate professor will be engaged in a project on capsular contracture and be responsible for organizing the collection of clinical samples from women with breast implants that will be analyzed with microbiological-, immunological- and histological methods. Furthermore, the associate professor will be engaged in conducting clinical research and pharmacological studies in the field of microbiology and plastic surgery.

The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
  • Academic assessments

Required qualifications
Six overall criteria apply for associate professor appointments at the University of Copenhagen. Furthermore, each applicant must be able to document:

  • Research qualifications at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways
  • Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies
  • Research-based teaching

The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills. In addition to the formal requirements, the candidate should have experience within the following areas:

  • Design and conduct of clinical research projects including randomized clinical trials
  • Organization of- and hands-on experience with collecting samples in a surgical setting
  • Knowledge on the field of plastic surgery
  • Attracting external funding through fund proposals

Terms of employment
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 5 years.

The average weekly working hours are 7.4 hours per week.

Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
