At The Faculty of Social Sciences, Aalborg University Business School, a number of full time positions as Associate Professor in Strategy and Organisation is open for appointment from 1. March 2021 or soon thereafter.


Job description

Aalborg University Business School is a newly established business school at Aalborg University, a science and technology focused university with world-class research in a number of disciplines. Aalborg University is a founding institution in Problem-Based Learning and with this as a guiding principle, the Business School plays a major role in bridging the gap between business and science that helps commercialize inventions and generate growth in businesses. The prerequisite for this is relevant research of the highest quality. We have a strategy of publishing our research in leading journals in our fields. We take current trends and issues into account in all the knowledge we produce. Only then can we contribute with business-critical insights that make a difference for society.

The Strategy, Organization and Management (SOM) Group at AAUBS is a research group with focus on organization, strategies and business models of incumbent firms and startups. At the micro-level, the group is particularly interested in leadership, organizational culture, careers, inequality, job satisfaction, promotions and the impact of HRM practices on employees. At the macro-level, business model development, strategy work, organizational change, transformation, digitalization, ecosystems, university-industry collaboration and uncertainty are among the current strong interests of the group. The teaching includes core courses in organization, strategy, business models, entrepreneurship and business performance at both the bachelor and master levels at the school. The SOM Group has an ambitious strategy to improve both teaching and research by increasing the outreach and impact of our research projects. We aim at publishing our research at the highest international level and with close contact to external stakeholders.

Qualification requirements
It is presupposed that applicants for the position as associate professor have research qualifications corresponding to the level achieved from a successful employment period as an assistant professor/researcher, or achieved otherwise. The applicants must document scientific production at an international level. Furthermore, it is presupposed that the applicants have received supervision and pedagogical upgrading and a positive written evaluation of their teaching qualifications. Moreover it will be an advantage, but not a prerequisite, that applicants have experience with Problem Based Learning (PBL) which is Aalborg University's teaching philosophy.

Applicants for the position of associate professor must have established an individual research profile, and be active teachers, including documented teaching qualifications such as course responsibility and development, supervision of bachelor and master students.

The academic record must be documented by publications in high ranked journals according to the ASB-list and/or the BFI-list and/or in books-publishing with peer-reviewing publishers. Applicants must also have shown ability to conduct and publish research individually as well as collectively, and show research impact, for example measured by Google Scholar citations or other impact measurements. It is also a requirement that applicants have designed and coordinated research activities such as contributions to organization of conferences, workshops, and conference tracks, review activities for academic journals, participation in cross-disciplinary and/or inter-organizational research networking and contributions to external research funding activities.

We expect active involvement in developing our Business School and prefer applicants with experience in administrative tasks regarding both teaching and general development.

Assessment
An expert assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Agreement

Appointment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science's Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State. Workplace is in Aalborg.
