Aalborg University Business School(AAUBS) and its International Business Research Group invite applications for a full-time Associate Professor position in International Business.

The International Business Research Group at AAUBS aims to deliver high quality PBL-teaching, research, and outreach activities in international business to enable students, companies and society at large to address the grand challenges in an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world. The position is an integral part of the development strategy of the International Business Research Group. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative faculty dedicated to excellence in cross-cultural teaching and research.

Research areas will be within International Business with a focus on one or more of the contemporary areas reflecting the current trends and challenges in the field of International Business. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in global MNE and employee network formation and persistence in various International Business functions in general and in international Human Resource Management in particular. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate research output dealing with the effects of shocks(such as supply chain disruptions, financial crisis or company bankruptcy) on the MNE global network structure and resilience.

The successful applicant is required to show evidence of internationally recognised research publications and have a thought through plan for future research activities. The appointee is expected to be a team player, actively involved in promoting interdisciplinary research through developing collaboration with other research groups in the AAUBS and with Departments across the University.

A willingness and ability to teach effectively at all levels and an enthusiastic approach to all aspects of teaching is essential. The appointee is expected to contribute to an engaging and inclusive Problem-Based Learning(PBL) environment at AAUBS. Academics with experience in PBL are strongly encouraged to apply. The position is targeted at teaching International Business and evidence of previous experience and excellence in teaching and supervision in a cross-cultural environment at undergraduate and graduate level is required.

Associate professorship
An appointment as associate professor is a permanent appointment which includes an obligation to carry out research and teaching activities. To some extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University.

Qualification requirements
Applicants for the associate professorship are required to possess research qualifications at such a level as can be attained through the successful completion of a term of employment as assistant professor, researcher, postdoc or other similar positions. Applicants must document research at an international level. In addition, applicants are assumed to have received supervision and pedagogical skills development and to have obtained a positive written assessment of their teaching qualifications.

  • A complete publication list specifying publication types(monographs, co-authored publications, journals, etc.). All attached publications to be taken into consideration in connection with the assessment must be clearly indicated in the list. No more than ten publications may be attached.

Assessment
Applicants will be assessed by an assessment committee.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select applicants for assessment. Before shortlisting takes place, all applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not.

All assessed applicants  will get the opportunity to comment on their own assessment, and may subsequently be invited to an interview and/or asked to give a trial lecture.

When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Wages and employment

Employment will be in accordance with the stipulations of the Danish Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(The Appointment Order), and the Danish Ministry of Finance's current circular on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and remuneration will be in accordance with the collective agreements for academics employed by the Danish state.
