As Associate Professor in functional hematological cancer research, you will contribute to the department’s research activities within molecular analysis of underlying mechanisms for disease development and treatment resistance. You will be responsible for the development, teaching, and management of functionalin vitro studies by applying the CRISPR-Cas9 technology. You will also be a part of the team of clinicians and bioinformaticians who guide patient tailored treatment of relapsed hematological patient based on whole exome sequencing. In addition, you will contribute to the teaching environment by research-based teaching and supervision of students. You will contribute to the development of the department both independently and in collaboration with others via your research of high international quality.

Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Research of international quality, including publications in peer reviewed journals and communication of your research in national and international academic networks
  • Supervision of Master and PhD students and contribute to the development of the faculty’s Master and PhD courses by research-based teaching in primarily molecular biology and biomedicine
  • Involvement in assessment and committee work at Aalborg University
  • Contribute to funding with external research funding

Teaching will primarily be in in biomedicine and translational medicine, but also in other study programmes at the University.

Your competences

You have established yourself as a prominent researcher within the field of hematological cancers and you posses documented solid research qualifications. You have a strong background in establishingin vitro disease models for studying pathogenesis, treatment efficacy and development of resistance. Experience in gene-editing by the CRISPR-Cas9 technology is highly valued. You have experience in molecular medicine and clinical research and are able to address clinical challenges by molecularly based studies.

As a person, you are dedicated and possess excellent communication skills. You can build relationships based on trust with students and colleagues. As supervisor you are competent, inspiring, and supportive. You are ready to take co-responsibility for the development of the department’s research and education at the highest international level and for ensuring that we maintain a good work environment. You naturally involve yourself in interdisciplinary collaboration at departmental, faculty, and university level.

Qualification requirements: 

The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.

  • Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organisations and the like.

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
