As an associate professor, you will develop an independent research agenda that connects a series of challenges related to the promotion of sustainable and digital transformation in accordance with the UN sustainable development goals(SDG).

Aalborg University commits to Problem-based learning(PBL) and as an associate professor, you will contribute to the teaching in the Department of Planning’s bachelor, master’s, continuing education, and PhD programmes, especially the interdisciplinary bachelor(in Danish) and master(in English) programmes in Techno-Anthropology. Proficiency of Danish or another Scandinavian language is therefore an advantage. Alternatively, the candidate should be willing to learn Danish within the first two years of employment. The applicants research will supply researched based teaching at the BA and MA study program in Techno-Anthropology, the Master program in Digital Health located at the Department of Health, Science and Technology, and other educations at Aalborg University. Experience in developing and planning study programs and continuing educations at a university level is an advantage.

Applicants are expected to hold a Ph.D. in the field of digital healthcare. The applicant should be able to apply qualitative, and ethnographic research methods as well as quantitative methods. The associate professor is expected to have relevant teaching and administrative experience. The applicant should have experience from cooperating with national and international associations engaged in digital healthcare or health informatics. The applicant should have research experience confirming the applicant’s ability to research digital healthcare issues from a citizen perspective. Hence, the applicant should be familiar with key terms like patient-centred health care, patient empowerment, and patient participation, and technologies like patient-reported outcome systems, telemedicine, chatbots and eHospitals.

Qualification requirements: 

The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.

  • A current curriculum vitae.
  • Copies of relevant diplomas(Master of Science and PhD). On request you could be asked for an official English translation.
  • Scientific qualifications. A complete list of publications must be attached with an indication of the works the applicant wishes to be considered. You may attach up to 10 publications.
  • Teaching qualifications described in the teaching portfolio.  If this is not enclosed the applicant must include an explanation for its absence.
  • Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organisations and the like.
  • Additional qualifications in relation to the position.
  • References/recommendations.
  • Personal data.

Wages and employment

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
