The Digital Democracy Center invites applications for a position as Associate Professor. The position is focused on political communication/ digital journalism/ digital democracy.
The position is in Digital Democracy Centre (DDC) at SDU (www.sdu.dk/ddc/ ). The position is vacant from August 2023 (or as soon as possible hereafter).
The DDC represents a socio-technical, interdisciplinary approach combining theory and methods from social sciences and computer science, to study the impact of digital technology and AI on media, politics, and democracy. One of the largest challenges in this area is that research and new solutions are developed in single disciplines, which neglects the fact that current challenges are technological and social, legal, and ethical in nature. Through its research, DDC will bridge this gap.
The DDC is looking for an energetic colleague who brings in an active research agenda on political communication, digital technologies and democracy, who is able to develop new teaching modules in that field, who is enthusiastic about interdisciplinary research and who wants to further develop our new digital democracy Centre.
The candidate should have a profile in political communication/ digital journalism / digital democracy. We expect the candidate to be able to teach in political science and/ or journalism and/ or new modules in the Centre.
We highly value candidates with affinity with interdisciplinary research and team science approaches.
The candidate would be part of the Centre leadership and we are looking for a candidate who can contribute to the development of the Centre and play a leading role in new initiatives.
