AAU Energy has campuses in both Aalborg and Esbjerg, this position is in Aalborg. 

The mission is to be world-leading in both research and research-based education of the energy engineers of the future. AAU Energy has approx. 300 employees of many nationalities, of which 25 are administrative staff. In addition, AAU Energy constantly has approx. 50-70 guest researchers from around the world. 

Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshops and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent. 

The position is offered in relation to the research program“Power Electronics Packaging Materials and Emerging Applications” and the Assistant Professor will be positioned in the section for“Power Electronics System Integration and Materials”. 

To perform the research tasks and supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students, it is required that candidates for the position have the knowledge, strong dissemination qualifications and hands-on experience with techniques for designing and manufacturing magnetic and electric components a focus on capacitive parasitic influence. 

It is expected that applicants have a strong background in analytical equations describing the electric fields of magnetic inductors and the grounding issues of the magnetic core, as well as the relevant optimisation of the design with minimizing the negative effects. Knowledge in the field of finite element analysis demonstrated by publications in highly ranked international journals/conferences. Experience in integrating planar technologies into magnetic components will be a plus. 

Teaching will primarily be in power electronic components and converters but also other study programmes at the University.

A researcher with PhD degree and PostDoc employment at specialist level on magnetic and electrical components for wide band gap power converters are required. Demonstrated success in writing research applications and obtaining research grants is required. The candidate should also demonstrate her/his capabilities of developing networking with both academic and industrial relevant for research cooperation and applications.

Qualification requirements:

Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.

Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total in a temporary position(appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark).

Shortlisting will be applied. After the review of any objections regarding the assessment committee, the head of department, with assistance from the chair of the assessment committee, selects the candidates to be assessed. Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
