The research of the Cardiotech Research Group focuses on understanding the(patho)physiology of the heart and to propose new engineering solutions for clinical problems. The current opening is focused on the study of high-frame-rate ultrasound and its development towards clinical cardiac applications. The equipment used in our group has all the capabilities for this objective and the new Assistant Professor will take the lead in the development of new high-speed ultrasound in this area.

The Cardiotech group is dynamic and team-oriented, with a strong culture of internal collaboration. We are looking for an Assistant Professor that will join this spirit and also has keen interest in broader field of engineering in cardiology. The applicant is expected to provide a brief description of the applicant’s vision, ambition, and direction for research. Applicants are also encouraged to outline their experience with high-speed ultrasound and their network in the field. We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate international collaboration and collaboration with clinicians in their field.

Teaching

Teaching activities include lecturing, supervision, coordination and planning at bachelor and master level. Experience with problem based learning and supervising project work will be preferred. Teaching will mostly be in topics such as programming  and signal processing.

Qualification requirements

The successful applicant has MSc and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent, with experience in high-frame-rate ultrasound. He or she can demonstrate teaching experience both at the BSc and MSc level as well as proficiency in English.

Qualification requirements:

Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.

Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total in a temporary position(appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark).

  • Your curriculum vitae, including personal data, educational background, scientific qualifications, dissemination skills, participation in committees and boards, and additional qualifications relevant for the position.
  • Copies of relevant diplomas(Master of Science and PhD). On request you could be asked for an official English translation.
  • A complete list of publications.
  • Publications you wish to be considered by the assessment committee. You may attach up to 5 publications.
  • A specification of your teaching qualifications relative to the teaching portfolio. If this is not enclosed you must include an explanation for its absence.
  • References/recommendations.


Shortlisting will be applied. After the review of any objections regarding the assessment committee, the head of department, with assistance from the chair of the assessment committee, selects the candidates to be assessed. All applicants will be informed as to whether they will advance to assessment or not.

Wages and employment

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
