At The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Aalborg University Business School, a number of full time positions as assistant or associate professor in accounting or auditing are open for appointment from 1. august 2022 or soon thereafter. The assistant professor positions are for maximum 4 years. The associate professor positions are permanent positions.


Job description

Aalborg University Business School is a newly established business school at Aalborg University, a science and technology focused university with world-class research in a number of disciplines. Aalborg University is a founding institution in Problem-Based Learning and with this as a guiding principle, the Business School plays a major role in bridging the gap between business and science that helps commercialize inventions and generate growth in businesses. The prerequisite for this is relevant research of the highest quality. We have a strategy of publishing our research in leading journals in our fields. We take current trends and issues into account in all the knowledge we produce. Only then can we contribute with business-critical insights that make a difference for society. 

 The Accounting discipline team at Aalborg University Business School is responsible for the educational activities in the broader accounting field, including financial accounting, management accounting and auditing and conducts research in core accounting subjects as well as in a number of interdisciplinary settings, like for example public sector accounting, sustainability and integrated reporting, business development and capital budgeting. The group covers a broad array of research methodologies and has an extensive collaboration with local, national and international companies and organizations.

Assistant professor
A position as assistant professor is a fixed-term training position which includes an obligation to carry our research and teaching activities. To a limited extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University.

The Faculty of Social Sciences wishes to ensure that assistant professorships provide career opporunities both within and outside of the university. For that reason, assistant professorships are formed in a manner ensuring that the competencies achieved in the position qualify for a career within research as well as a career in the private and/or public sector. No later than one year before the termination of the position, you are offered an interview in order to clarify your further career.


Associate Professor
An appointment as associate professor is a permanent appointment which included an obligation to carry our research and teaching activities. To some extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University.

Qualification requirements

  • Assistant Professor
    Applicants for the post of assistant professor must hold a PhD degree or academic qualifications at PhD level. In the selection of candidates, emphasis will be placed on research potential and pedagogical qualifications as well as experience with supervision and lectures.
  • Associate Professor
    It is presuppossed that applicants for the position as associate professor have research qualifications corresponding to the level achieved from a successful employment period as an assistant professor/researcher, or achieved otherwise. The applicants must document scientific production at an international level. Furthermore, it is presupposed that the applicants have received supervision and pedagogical upgrading and a positive written evaluatio of their teaching qualifications.
Regarding both the assistant professorship and the associate professorship it will be an advantage, but not a prerequisite, that applicants have experienace with Problem Based Learning (PBL) which is Aalborg University's teaching philosophy.

    Assistant professor: A maximum of 5 publications may be submitted.
    Associate professor: A maximum of 10 publications may be submitted.
  • Co-author sgtatements in relation to publications written with other authors must be enclosed with a declaration from each of the authors, stating the extent of the applicant's contribution to the total work. The declaration must be signed by the co-authors. Template co-author declaration

Assessment
An expert assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subssequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will sselect candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Agreement

Appointment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Higher Educatio and Science's Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confereration of Professional Associations (AC) o Academics in the State. Workplace is in Aalborg.
