The position is affiliated with the Techno-Anthropology Lab(https://tantlab.aau.dk/ ) a research group that investigates key processes of social and technical innovation that are critical to the challenges facing contemporary and future societies. The research group contributes to the interdisciplinary fields of science& technology studies, anthropology of technology and computational social science and humanities. 

To be considered for the position of full professor, applicants should possess and demonstrate a strong research profile in one or more of the following areas from a Social Sciences and Humanities(SSH) perspective:

  • Science and Technology Studies(STS)
  • Digital and Computational Methods
  • Digitization and Data Visualization
  • Controversy Mapping

The department is looking for applicants with experience in a variety of Research Methodologies that align with the above areas, e.g.:

  • Fieldwork
  • Design interventions
  • Digital and computational research methods

As part of the application the department would like to see a proposal for a research agenda, that draws on existing and new theoretical developments, and which discuss how the applicants SSH research can contribute to addressing emerging challenges in increasingly digitized societies. A focal point of this research agenda is to demonstrate previous experiences with external funding and project work and how to contribute to future projects, that engage users, publics, and partners effectively.

For appointment as professor, the ideal candidate is expected to:

  • teach, supervise and examine students in the BA and Master's program in Techno-Anthropology, Master of Data-driven Organizational Development and teaching activities in digital and computational methods at other AAU programs, at the highest international level.
  • supervise PhD students at the highest international level.
  • conduct research and publish research products at a high quality level in internationally recognised publications.
  • coordinate and participate in external research networks and partnerships, and obtain external funds of strategic importance.
  • handle research management of researchers with different research and cultural backgrounds
  • be experienced in cross-disciplinary research.
  • to collaborate for relevant research application and initiate knowledge collaboration with relevant groups or external partners.
  • engage in knowledge exchange with broader society.
  • contribute to the daily collaboration in relation to research and education, which relates to the Department of Culture and Learning, including especially the teaching engagements of TANTlab.
  • contribute in a positive and constructive manner to the overall activities and working environment of the Department of Culture and Learning.

In relation to research, the applicant is expected to document:

  • A research profile in two or more of the four areas mentioned above.
  • Document experience, competences and achievements demonstrating the ability to produce research of high international quality
  • Research collaboration or plans for research collaboration with academic and non-academic partners.
  • A research plan that matches the Department of Culture and Learning’s strategy and within the scope of the TANTlab research group.
  • Convincingly show experience, competences, and achievements to initiate and develop external(national and international) partnerships.
  • Document experience with obtaining external funds of strategic importance.

In relation to teaching, the applicant is expected to document:

  • Experience with and competencies in relation to teaching computational SSH and a teaching portfolio with pedagogical-didactic considerations.
  • Experience in the management and development of study programs.
  • Experience in supervising of PhD students
  • The applicant is expected to acquire relevant linguistic competence in Danish for academic purposes within an agreed timeframe. 
  • Experience with problem-based learning(PBL) is an advantage.

Applicants must be prepared to actively participate in all aspects of the day-to-day activities of the department, the research group and study programmes. This includes being present at the Copenhagen Campus on a regular basis.

Assessment
All candidates will be assessed by an assessment committee. Applicants may subsequently be summoned to an interview and/or trial lecture.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Wages and employment

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
