The Section of Town, Housing and Property at Department of the Built Environment conducts research into housing, urban and regional transformation, energy consumption, architecture and universal design. The position is located in Copenhagen and open from April 1, 2022 or soon hereafter and for three years.


Job description

The post doc should be knowledgeable of topics related to the social science of sustainable energy transition within housing and everyday practices. The post doc will be connected to two current EU projects: HESTIA (Holistic Demand Response Services for European Residential Communities) and Shared Green Deal (Social Sciences and Humanities for Achieving a Responsible, Equitable and Desirable Green Deal). The main topic of the post doc is sociotechnical and social practice theoretical studies of energy transitions related to smart energy solutions and energy renovation within an everyday life context.

BUILD is looking for a post doc with strong skills in sociotechnical and social practice theoretical studies of energy transitions within homes and everyday practices, strong skills in qualitative research methods and experience with co-creation or participatory design methods.

Furthermore, the successful candidate has:

  • Experience on planning, organizing and analyzing qualitative research designs
  • Experience with reporting research studies
  • The ability to work in a team as well as independently and be good at networking

Qualification requirements: 

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
