Offer Description

The Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IM CAS) is seeking two researchers for the project “Dissipative systems in fluid dynamics” coordinated by Prof. Eduard Feireisl and funded by the Czech Science Foundation. Applications are invited from candidates who have a strong background in the mathematical theory of fluid dynamics. Excellent knowledge of PDEs and functional analysis, including the framework of Sobolev spaces and weak solutions, is required. No teaching is involved.

Education Level
PhD or equivalent

Skills/Qualifications

Applications are invited from candidates who have completed their PhD within the last 5 years (or will have completed it before the time of hiring), and who have a strong background in the mathematical theory of fluid dynamics. Excellent knowledge of PDEs and functional analysis, including the framework of Sobolev spaces and weak solutions, is required. Both postdoctoral fellows will concentrate on the concept of generalized solutions. One fellow will focus on the applications of the abstract theory for designing efficient numerical schemes, the second one will work on the stability of solutions and their asymptotic behaviour under general, possibly stochastic perturbations.
