Offer Description

FZU is collaborating on preparing a space mission LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna), which will detect gravitational waves. FZU contributes to mission-critical space hardware, especially the Fiber Switching Unit, and is also responsible for prototyping and tests. The work is typically done in cooperation with other institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences and technological companies in the Czech Republic.

We are opening a Senior researcher position to join the LISA project team (part-time position).

What you will do

  • Gathering technical requirements and communication with local and international partners, both industrial and academic.
  • Participate in design iterations, manufacturing, and tests of precise mechanisms based on piezo technology and flexure hinges.
  • Participate in analyzing the data from our experiments and in simulation activities within the broader LISA consortium.
  • Participation in the scientific activities of the LISA Consortium.
  • Participation in the Prague Relativity Group, the Czech group member of the LISA Consortium.
  • Comparing the LISA mission with other experiments for detecting gravitational waves, analyzing options of possible FZU involvement.
