Offer Description

Embark on a transformative journey with the Laboratory of Photosynthesis at Centre Algatech , Institute of Microbiology v. v. i. We are actively seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to our cutting-edge project, "PHOTOMACHINES," focused on redesigning cyanobacteria for extraordinary photosynthetic production. Led by esteemed experts in the field, Prof. Josef Komenda and Prof. Roman Sobotka, our interdisciplinary team of molecular biologists, bioinformaticians, and biotechnologists is at the forefront of creating a sustainable, carbon-neutral world where the possibilities of science are boundless. Join us in pushing the boundaries of scientific innovation!

The development of the prototype of cyanobacteria platform for efficient production of therapeutic peptides: By redesigning the metabolic pathways of cyanobacteria we will transform traditional cyanobacterial cells into extraordinary photosynthetic production cells (Photomachines). Photomachines are poised to revolutionize the production of valuable compounds (Secondary metabolites with therapeutic properties, pigments and fatty acids) produced in cyanobacteria with unprecedented efficiency. Specific tasks include microbiology, molecular biology (cloning, cell transformation, nucleic acid and protein analysis) and bioinformatic with the focus on protein modelling and omic data analysis.
