POSTDOCTORAL POSITION - field of Grassland Diversity

Project PPSŘ - Programme for the support of strategic management of the Technical University of Liberec

• Place of work:  Department of Biology and Ecology of the Faculty of Science, Humanities and Education of the Technical University of Liberec
• Number of positions:           1
• Workload:                              100 % (40 hours/week)
• Salary:                                   payment category A3, in accordance with the Internal Wage Regulations of the Technical University of Liberec, project supplement in accordance with the rules of the financial source
• Employment contract:       for a fixed term until December 2025, with the possibility of extension, in case of foreign candidates, the signing of the contract is subject to the granting of a visa
• Start of employment:          from September 2024, or by agreement

Characteristics:

Department of Biology and Ecology is seeking for an enthusiastic and motivated postdoctoral fellow with the strong environmental microbiology background to join our interdisciplinary team on an ambitious project (Causes of the decline of grassland diversity in protected areas in the Czech-Saxon border region) that will be focused on relationship between grassland diversity, soil nutrients and soil macro and micro-organism.

What will be your job description?

• soil and plant sampling in protected areas in the Czech-Saxon border region
• evaluating relationships between diversity, productivity, soil nutrient and biomass content and soil bacteria in grasslands
• evaluating grassland ecosystem services
• managing experimental and analytical workflows within their project
• generating reliable data for publication in the projects to which they are assigned and recording all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic)
• publishing in high quality scientific journals (Q1 or Q2)
• participation in the teaching of relevant subjects
• interacting and supporting other group members
• sharing and discussing research results with partners and collaborators

We require:

• Ph.D. degree or its foreign equivalent in the relevant field obtained at an educational institution other than the Technical University of Liberec no later than five years prior to the submission of an application
• scientific qualification in the relevant field
• good teaching skills
• good communication skills in written and spoken English
• independence, flexibility in work, responsibility

Information about the selection procedure:

The selection procedure will be organized in the first round by examining the documents submitted. In the second round, a personal interview will be carried out with the selected candidates. The selection committee is expected to meet the candidates in the 26th week of 2024. All candidates will be informed of the outcome within 30 days of the end of the selection procedure.

Within 30 calendar days of receipt of the request, the Technical University of Liberec will send a written statement of the results.
